Harry Connick Jazzed Up For Lincoln

October 12, 2007

NEW YORK—Musician Harry Connick, Jr. and triathlete Sarah Reinertsen get starring roles in two spots for Ford’s Lincoln breaking this weekend.

The campaign, “Dreams,” under the auspices of WWP’s Team Detroit, Dearborn, Mich., will launch during NBC’s Sunday Night Football NFL coverage before going into regular rotation. The first spot, “Hometown” features Connick in a 2008 Lincoln MKX driving through his hometown street of New Orleans, which coincides with the NBC game featuring the New Orleans Saints visiting the Seattle Seahawks. In the spot, Connick reminisces about growing up and becoming a musician, and speaks about the importance of remembering your roots and giving back. It ends with a celebration at Musicians’ Village, a Habitat for Humanity project conceived by Connick and fellow musician Branford Marsalis after Hurricane Katrina. “My dream is to get the good times rolling again in my hometown,” says Connick.

The second spot, “Runner,” shows Reinersten and the Lincoln MKZ on the streets of New York. Reinersten was the first female amputee to compete and conquer the Ford Ironman Triathlon Kona, a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and 26.2-mile run. “My dream is to do extraordinary things everyday,” she says.

“Their stories help to reinforce Lincoln’s brand appeal, while our products are the perfect reward to celebrate their achievements,” Mike Richards, general marketing manager, Lincoln Mercury, Dearborn, Mich., said in a statement. Spend for the spots was not revealed.
