Chicago Sun-Times Praises New Edge Ads

One of advertising’s toughest critics has given the new Edge commercials a well-earned “A.”  Sun-Times ad critic Lewis Lazare’s glowing review of the spots starts with the headline, “Mamet goes commercial:  Artist crafts thoroughly enjoyable and magical spots for the Ford Edge, with concise, smart dialogue and compelling direction.”  He notes that the while “typically we find formulaic and quickly forgettable work” in car ads, the copy “compels you to pay attention.” He sums up: “Whether one comes to these commercials with a well-honed appreciation for Mamet’s art, viewers nonetheless will sense something different and special about them — yeah, they’re really good.”
