‘TOP TEN’ FORD AND LINCOLN MERCURY SALES HIGHLIGHTS – BUILDING PRODUCTS PEOPLE WANT

 1)      Mid-size Car Sales Up, with Three New Sales Records:  Ford Fusion posted another all-time sales record in March, with sales climbing 48 percent compared to a year ago.  Mercury Milan posted its strongest-ever sales month as well, gaining 45 percent versus March 2006. And Lincoln MKZ sales were up 13 percent, the second-highest month ever. Combined sales for the new mid-size sedans were 24,094 – a 40 percent increases versus year-ago levels and the best month ever for the three vehicles. 2)      Crossover Momentum Continues to Build:  Ford and Lincoln Mercury crossover sales were up 42 percent compared to a year ago, driven in a large part by strong Ford Edge (10,915 units) and Lincoln MKX (3,054 units) sales.  Year-to-date combined crossover sales from Ford and Lincoln Mercury are up 29 percent.  An all-new, full-size crossover will debut at the New York Auto Show on Wednesday, April 4. 3)      Ford Edge Beats the Competition, now Neck-and-Neck with Top Players: With sales of nearly 11,000 units, Edge outsold GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook combined in March.  In just over three months in market, Edge has established itself among the leaders in the mid-size crossover segment.   4)      Ford Expedition Extends Strong Sales Streak:  Ford Expedition posted its seventh consecutive month of higher sales in March.  With sales of 10,505 units, Expedition was up 28 percent versus year-ago levels. 5)      Lincoln Sales Keep Climbing:  Lincoln sales are up 8 percent year-to-date and March was the sixth consecutive month of sales growth. Navigator has seen increased sales in five of the past six months, is up nearly 2 percent year-to-date and is helping drive Lincoln’s growth. 6)      Lincoln MKX Outpaces the Competition:  In its third month of sales, Lincoln MKX (3,054 units) outsold many of the established players in the segment, including Acura RDX (2,424 units), Cadillac SRX (2,189 units) and Infiniti FX (2,179 units).   7)      F-Series Outpaces Competitors by a Wide Margin:  In March, America’s perennial best-selling vehicle, the Ford F-Series, posted its highest sales month since August 2006.  It outsold its closest competitor, the Chevrolet Silverado, by nearly 16,000 units for the month. F-Series market share in March, at just over 34 percent, was up nearly 4 percentage points from February and at its highest level of the year. 8)      Warmer Weather Spurs Mustang Sales:  Some call it spring fever.  We call it one hot car.  Warmer temperatures are fueling Mustang sales, up 37 percent from February to March, continuing a trend of month-over-month sales increase in 2007. 9)      Hybrid Sales Building Momentum:  Combined sales of the Ford Escape Hybrid and Mercury Mariner Hybrid were up 43 percent in the first quarter this year, compared to the same period in 2006. 10)  Ford’s Sales Mix is on Track:  In only three years, Ford’s retail sales have gone from a mix of 30 percent cars and crossovers and 70 percent trucks and SUVs to more balanced split of nearly 50/50.  Shouldered by strong new Ford and Lincoln Mercury crossovers and cars, Ford is seeing an increase in sales in key segments.  This growth is the result of having more products people want.  # # #
